On a regular basis we visit nursing homes and schools with specially trained animals to enable (demented) elderly and children to meet, cuddle and pet our animals. Research has proven that petting has positive effects on humans. In the nursing homes this is used on a regular basis. The goal for that is:
-On a totally different level trying to find a connection with depressed or apathetic elderly.
-An animal can help to soothe and can bring feelings of care, warmth and love.
-For psycho-geriatric elderly memories can be triggered.
-It’s a great way to get people out of their isolation.
-Also very suitable for multiple debilitated children
-To help children with traumas or fears for animals to trust them again.
